We are a garden center that used to be located just inside the SC State Farmers Market in Columbia, SC. We were the very first garden center on the right as you entered the gate to the market.   NOW, we have a new location at 2720 Main Street in downtown Columbia near the end of the Main Street construction.

As of now, (                ) we are open between the hours of 10AM and 6 M and Sundays from 1PM to 5PM.   We are still getting new product in and waiting for some to arrive.  Come on in and see us.

Occasionally, we are still running errands with last minute things from the move, so if we are not there when you get there, give us a call at (803) 206-3143 or (803) 206-3091.  We are never far away.  Also - as always, if you need us to be there at earlier or later times, feel free to call us!

Now that
we're open, come on in
and see us - the coffee is always on.
Have you tried Thentix yet?  It's a little different for us in that it is a skin conditioner.  You may wonder what this kind of product is doing in a garden center.  The answer is that it is great for anyone working with plants or in a garden.  This skin conditioner is not like any other you've tried - it is a natural solution for many skin problems.  We've launched a web site just for it:  www.thetaderm.com                Next time you're in, give it a try.

Also great for pets!
Great gift!
We are proud to present a new potting medium / soil amendment / super mulch.  Starting now we will carry Coco Peat (Coir).

Coco Peat out performs regular peat and saves the peat bogs!  Coco Peat is made from coconut husk fiber: a renewable by-product from the coconut harvesting process.  Coco Peat makes an excellent growing medium for container plants or add it to sandy soil to increase the water holding capacity or for heavy clay soil to help break it up.  Coco Peat has natural rooting hormones and anti-fungal properties.

It's easy to use.  Just put your compressed Coco Peat brick in a container, add 3 - 4 gallons of water and let it sit until the water is absorbed, fluff it up and it is ready to use.

  • can be used in seed starting mixes, bedding plants, planters, soil mixes, gardens and container plants.  Anywhere you would use peat moss.
  • is good for earthworm bedding material.
  • is a good substrate for reptile or amphibian vivariums.
  • is an excellent rooting material.
  • holds water rather than shedding it like the traditional peat does.  It holds 8-9 times it's weight in water.
  • has the ability to store and release nutrient for extended periods of time.  It also has great oxygenation properties which is important for healthy root development.
  • is very slow to disintegrate, whereas peat breaks down within two years after application.  Coco Peat only begins to break down when it is 10 years old and has a pH of 5.0 - 6.8 which is neutral to slightly acidic.
  • can be used to make your own super organic potting soil (mix as desired with earthworm castings, compost, etc.).

We don't always know what the future holds.  Please add us to your prayer list and to your church's prayer list too.
Thank you.

The State Farmers Market was scheduled to move in February 2010.  Now there are signs up that suggest the move date may be close to April.  It will be moving to Hwy. 321 off I-77 towards Gaston, SC.  Most of our customers do no live in that direction.  We decided to move to a more central location.  We hope you will join us soon at our new place.
We hope to be able to provide you with even better products and services at our new location at 2720 Main Street, near Elmwood Park, Cottontown, Earlewood, and of course Downtown Columbia.
Here's the news you've been waiting for:
YES!  We are OPEN!
We hope to see you at our NEW LOCATION at
2720 MAIN STREET.  We are less than 3 red lights north of Elmwood Avenue.  Look for the palm trees on the right.  Enter from either Main Street or Anthony Street.
If you know of someone or a company that puts up fencing, please let us know or get them to contact us.  This is a priority in getting the new place ready.
While you're there, please vote for PETS Inc. in West Columbia, SC to win a grant in the 2009 Shelter Challenge.

Looking for Earthworm Castings?  We are one of the few places that carry it!
Many of you have been coming to us for years to get your poinsettias while we were at the Farmers Market.  YES - we will still have all the beautiful poinsettias to which you have become accustomed.  IN ADDITION, we are going to try a few NEW things!

This year we will also offer you Christmas trees, wreaths, and garland!
It's also looking like we will have gifts, amaryllis, Christmas cactus, and more.
Many of you know how much we like the no-kill shelter PETS Inc.  Well, we are now fostering a puppy for them.  Come by and see him any time - maybe he's the perfect fit for you!  Just come in and ask for Modoch.
